Abstract :Objective: To observe the efficacy of Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) in the treatment of seborrheic keratosis after laser surgery. Methods: A total of 120 patients with facial seborrheic keratosis who visited the outpatient department of the author's department from September 2015 to March 2016 were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group (n=62) applied Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) twice a day to the wound after ultra-pulsed CO_2 laser surgery; the control group (n=58) applied erythromycin ointment twice a day after surgery. The course of treatment was 1 week. The efficacy and symptom and sign scores were observed on the 4th and 7th days after surgery. Results: The symptom and sign scores of the treatment group on the 4th and 7th days after treatment were lower than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); the effective rates of the treatment group on the 4th and 7th days after treatment were 90.32% and 93.55%, respectively, which were better than 58.62% and 62.07% of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); no serious adverse reactions were observed in both groups. Conclusion: Fonow ointment (Compound polymyxin B ointment, Chinese version of Neosporin) is effective and safe for treating seborrheic keratosis after laser surgery.
